The Water Resources Department, Jharkhand, has undertaken construction of a reservoir on river Punasi in the Ganga basin. The major irrigation scheme will benefit around 24,290 ha of land in the Santhal Pargana district of Jharkhand.
In March 2011, the project was delayed due to forest clearances and land acquisition issues. However, the work went underway in January 2012.
Till August 2019, around 85 percent work on the dam was completed; 35 percent work on the spillway was completed and around 56 percent work on the main canal was completed. The project completion was rescheduled for December 2022.
As per the latest information available with Projects Today, bids were invited for earthwork and construction of structures in Chandan branch canal for the project for an estimated contract value of Rs 29.84 crore.
